Job summary

GovCIO is hiring a Technical Writer to support the VA Health Technology Management Services Contract. The role manages multiple artifacts for senior leadership and ensures QA of documents for VA Medical Center personnel during EHR transitions.

The position is fully remote within the United States with core hours 8am–5pm ET. The candidate will write and edit technical documents, translate complex issues into clear narratives, and collaborate with SMEs to produce executive-ready deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Operations Research or related fields with 5+ years of experience (or commensurate experience).
• 3-5 years of relevant experience with certifications in relevant UX software or 5 to 7 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education
• Experience within Enterprise VA projects or other federal agencies
• Advanced proficiency in core Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience operating in an agile environment

Responsibilities

• Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documentation and team communications/artifacts with graphic design as needed.
• Translates complicated issues from multiple information sources into a clear narrative for senior leadership.
• Applies editorial styles and standards across documentation.
• Develops ad hoc artifacts for executive VA leadership.
• Creates documentation based on newly identified processes/procedures each fiscal year.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts to develop comprehensive deliverables.
• Gains subject knowledge through daily team activities.
• Reviews technical documentation for content quality and formatting.
• Supports the team in implementing communications plans and improving communication.
• Drafts accurate, succinct meeting minutes with short turnaround times.
• Supports continuous improvement by refining artifacts shared with VAMC personnel.
