Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Commercial Lines Technology Underwriter to join our team. This role involves underwriting and selling middle market technology-related lines, with responsibility for pricing, risk analysis, and advisory support to agents and underwriters.

Based in the Chicago region preferred, candidates from approved states with strong market knowledge are welcome for a hybrid or fully remote arrangement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• Generally, 5-10+ years standard commercial lines and 5+ years Technology Industry experience.
• Communication (written and verbal) - ability to interact with all levels and consult on underwriting matters.
• Judgment and Decision Making - ability to exercise judgment and negotiate effectively.
• Agile and Adaptive - strong problem solving and rapid learning.
• Teamwork and Collaboration - encourages ideas and respects diverse views.
• Prioritization and Desk Management - monitor timeline and deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Identify, solicit, underwriting and selling new and renewal Middle Market accounts.
• Apply technical, sales and analytical skills to provide insurance solutions.
• Underwrite and price Technology specialty coverages with limited guidance.
• Manage portfolio to achieve gross written premium, profitability and growth.
• Mentor and develop team members, acting as a knowledge resource.
