The Hanover Insurance Group in the Chicago area is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Lines Technology Underwriter to identify, underwrite, and sell Middle Market technology risk accounts that align with the company’s appetite and profitability goals. The role requires strong technical underwriting skills, collaboration, and a focus on risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• 5–10+ years of standard commercial lines underwriting; 5+ years in Technology Industry underwriting especially for larger accounts.
• Strong communication, both written and verbal, with internal/external partners.
• Ability to exercise judgment and make sound decisions within authority.
• Proven agility, adaptability and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Collaborative team player with strong relationship-building and leadership potential.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and price Middle Market technology risk, professional, cyber and related lines.
• Identify and solicit new accounts aligned with technology appetite and branch strategies.
• Manage portfolio to achieve growth, profitability and retention goals.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to junior underwriters and colleagues.
• Prepare accurate file documentation and rating instructions for quotes.
• Stay current on regulatory issues, market trends, and competitor activity.
