Job summary

UHY International is seeking a Tax Principal to lead and grow the tax practice, guiding strategy, client relationships, and innovative tax solutions. The role emphasizes leadership, business development, and high-quality delivery across complex engagements.

The position requires a CPA license, 10+ years of experience, and a strong track record in tax leadership within professional services. Travel and mentoring responsibilities are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• 8+ years of progressive tax leadership experience in a CPA firm or related professional service environment.
• CPA license.
• Responsible for completing the minimum CPE credit requirement.
• Specific positions may require additional industry or specialization certifications.
• Software: CCH Prosystem FX, Axcess Tax, Axcess Document, Axcess Workstream, Thomson Reuters Fixed Assets CS, Checkpoint for Tax Research.

Responsibilities

• Develop cutting-edge tax planning strategies leveraging industry insights and regulatory expertise.
• Provide insights in tax optimization, risk management, and emerging tax trends.
• Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements.
• Manage engagement progress, budgets, and deadlines with strategic adjustments.
• Stay abreast of evolving tax laws and industry developments for client engagements and training.
• Provide expert guidance on complex tax scenarios and research inquiries.
• Foster high-level client relationships and tailor tax strategies to client goals.
• Lead client meetings and understand financial objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals.
• Lead process improvements to tax workflows and quality control procedures.
• Shape the tax practice’s strategic vision and implement innovations.
• Drive business development by identifying opportunities and expanding services.
• Collaborate with leadership on projects to boost market presence.
• Supervise subordinate team members.
