Job summary

Avalara's Senior Consultant role leads complex ERP, POS, and eCommerce implementations, delivering high-impact tax automation for enterprise customers. You will own engagements, guide configuration, and mentor junior specialists, reporting to the Implementation Manager.

This role emphasizes risk management, scalable solution design, and collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to improve delivery and time-to-value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of software implementation experience in B2B settings.
• Deep expertise in tax automation across engines, returns, and exemption systems.
• Strong knowledge of US sales and use tax compliance and nexus rules.
• Proven ability to lead multi-platform ERP integrations and configurations.
• Excellent executive presence and communication with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver end-to-end implementations across ERP integrations (Sage, Dynamics 365, Salesforce, NetSuite, QuickBooks).
• Own a portfolio of high-priority customers with high complexity and ensure exceptional delivery.
• Lead discovery on tax workflows and tailor implementation plans to nexus and compliance requirements.
• Manage technical and tax aspects end-to-end, including risk management and customer communication.
• Mentor junior specialists and contribute to onboarding materials and SOPs.
