Job summary

Avalara is seeking a Senior Implementation Consultant to lead complex enterprise implementations of the Excise platforms (AvaTax for Energy, Returns for Energy, AvaTax for Tobacco, Returns for Tobacco). This remote role prioritizes expert delivery, architecture, and stakeholder collaboration across multi-entity structures in North America.

You will guide design workshops, oversee SIT/UAT, and mentor teams while aligning with product and support to drive performance and client success.

Qualifications

8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise software implementation, tax technology consulting, systems integration, or technical solution delivery.
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
In-depth excise/fuel taxation knowledge and exposure to ERP/connector integrations.
Advanced troubleshooting using APIs, SQL, and data transformation pipelines; ability to influence executives and lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end delivery of large, enterprise Avalara implementations across multi-entity structures.
Architect custom calculation logic and mapping across high-volume datasets.
Facilitate design workshops with tax directors, IT leaders, and system integrators.
Lead SIT/UAT and manage risk, scope, and architectural constraints.
Provide mentorship and governance for partner teams and pre-sales scoping.
