Job summary

Avalara, Inc. is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead high-complexity tax automation implementations across ERP and eCommerce platforms.

You will own delivery quality for senior customers, mentor junior specialists, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to improve processes. The role emphasizes AI-assisted discovery, design, and documentation, reporting to the Implementation Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with 8+ years of software implementation experience in B2B.
• Deep expertise in tax automation and independent leadership of tax-related implementations.
• Strong knowledge of US sales and use tax compliance and nexus rules.
• Proven experience across ERP/platform integrations (Sage, MS Dynamics 365, Salesforce, NetSuite, QuickBooks).
• Strong executive presence and communication with senior stakeholders.
• Mentorship and informal leadership capabilities coaching juniors.
• Strategic thinker translating customer pain points into scalable solutions.
• Experience using AI tools to speed discovery, documentation, and design.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver end-to-end ERP/platform integrations (Sage, MS Dynamics 365, Salesforce, NetSuite, QuickBooks).
• Own a portfolio of high-priority, high-complexity customers with exceptional delivery quality.
• Lead discovery sessions to assess tax workflows and configure optimal setups.
• Manage technical and tax aspects end-to-end, including risk and customer communication.
• Serve as senior escalation point guiding juniors on configurations and methodology.
• Collaborate to improve onboarding materials, training curricula, and SOPs.
• Partner with Product/Engineering/CS to surface recurring challenges and drive improvements.
• Apply AI tools to accelerate discovery, design, documentation, and planning.
