Job description

A WorkInProgress Senior Talent Manager is responsible for all financial and business affairs aspects of talent management for TV, radio, social, and other integrated productions. A Senior Talent Manager serves as an expert and main point of contact for all talent matters, including talent estimates, negotiations, residuals, music rights, SAG/AFTRA/AFM, and other union rules/regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Estimate talent session and talent reuse/residual costs, holding fees on both a project and forecasted annual basis; communicate regular updates and reporting to our director of Video Production and the Strategy team.
  • Conduct outreach and contract negotiations with creators in the social space for content licensing and new content creation.
  • Determine accurate classification of all talent fees (e.g., industrial vs. commercial, internet vs. TV, principal vs. background, etc.) and make necessary adjustments.
  • Lead contact with the TEAM talent payment platform and staff, including hands-on knowledge of TEAM’s TOCS system.
  • Vet celebrity and influencer backgrounds during concepting to identify potential brand risks.
  • Prepare talent completion reports, review invoices/billings, and resolve union or labor claims.
  • Build and maintain relationships with talent agents, negotiating costs and terms including overscale agreements.
  • Coordinate with media/traffic to obtain flight schedules and GRP counts for residual payment estimates and fee payments.
  • Negotiate and book celebrities with third-party talent houses, and handle contract completion.
  • Maintain records of aired content, including production year, expiration, and usage details.
  • Create and track talent/music renewal estimates and extensions.
  • Stay updated on SAG and other union rules and regulations.
  • Negotiate and process union requests, exceptions, and waivers with SAG.
  • Handle claims and disputes with SAG, AFM, AFTRA, and manage talent audits.
  • Review contracts, deal memos, and legal documents with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with offshore talent agreements is a plus.
  • Proactively improve talent management processes and educate team members.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of relevant agency or industry experience in talent management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Positive work attitude, respectful of colleagues, clients, and partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven track record in production teams, demonstrated through a portfolio.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
$110,000 - $155,000 a year
