Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced system safety, reliability and risk engineer to support the New Glenn SEIT program. You will work at the system level across New Glenn subsystems, applying engineering rigor to safety, reliability, and lifecycle processes in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

The role requires on-site work in WA, FL, or CO, with responsibilities spanning hazard analyses, compliance with NASA/FAA/MIL-STD-882/ARP-4761, and mentorship of engineers on safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience within integrated systems.
  • Experience with system engineering principles.
  • Experience in analysis, design, or integrated testing.
  • Engineering experience in fluids, thermal, propulsion, avionics, electrical hardware, telemetry/communications, structural, ground operations or flight/ground autonomy.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Create, evaluate, and perform reviews of system safety and reliability analyses including Hazard Assessments, FMECAs/HAZOPs, Fault Trees, Common Cause Assessments, Reliability Predictions, Reliability Block Diagrams, Human Error Assessments, and Hazard Sheets.
  • Evaluate safety products and requirements for compliance with our system safety processes and products against internal and external standards including Range Safety, NASA, FAA, MIL-STD-882, or ARP-4761.
  • Implement and maintain system safety processes and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Train and mentor engineers on identifying and analyzing system safety risks.
  • Work with systems engineering and subsystem cognizant engineers to identify and verify compliance with system safety requirements.
  • Assist in generating metrics and report on program system safety statuses.
  • Foster and maintain a healthy culture of system safety for New Glenn.
