Job summary

Blue Origin in Florida is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join the SEIT team focused on New Glenn development and operations. You will lead risk management projects, coordinate design teams, and support safety analyses across system levels to ensure mission assurance and safe, reliable launch systems.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in aerospace engineering, strong fundamentals in safety and compliance, and the ability to work across disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in aerospace/electrical/mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years engineering experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Strong system safety, Risk, and mission assurance fundamentals.
  • Experience interpreting and assessing compliance to regulatory requirements and guidance.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and perform reviews of system risks suggesting technical solutions to complex problems.
  • Evaluate products and requirements for compliance with our system safety processes and products against internal and external standards including Range Safety, NASA, FAA, MIL-STD-882, or ARP-4761.
  • Implement and maintain risk and safety processes and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Train and coach engineers on identifying and analyzing system risks
  • Work with systems engineering and subsystem cognizant engineers to identify and verify compliance with system safety requirements.
  • Assist in generating metrics and report on program system status
  • Participate in actively maintaining a healthy system safety culture
