Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. seeks a Systems Engineering Manager 2 in Huntsville, AL to lead a functional homeroom and contribute to Sentinel program success. You will mentor engineers, guide architecture development, and ensure rigorous system verification across teams in a fast-paced defense environment.

You will oversee a cadre of engineers, coordinate with IPTs, and drive performance against schedule while navigating DoD requirements and security clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
• Master's degree in STEM with 6+ years of related experience (nice to have).
• Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application.
• 1 year of ICBM experience (MMIII or Sentinel).
• Experience using MBSE tools (SysML, DoDAF, or UAFP) in Cameo or Rhapsody.

Responsibilities

• Functionally manage a team of systems engineers, including goal setting and performance reviews.
• Define work scope, assign tasks, and ensure traceability to baselines.
• Review verification content and governance artifacts for system requirements.
• Report program status and progress to senior leadership and government customers.
• Serve as liaison with executives and stakeholders up to ELT as needed.
• Balance functional homeroom responsibilities with technical project work.
• Provide career mentorship and coaching to individual contributors.
