Job summary

AV is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to collaborate with the Design team on innovative unmanned systems for defense and commercial use. You will interact with Controls Engineers to allocate requirements and drive architectures for simulation models, spanning requirements to validation across multiple design stages.

The role involves prototyping autonomous systems, applying Model Based Engineering tools, and contributing to system-level testing within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent experience.
• 5–8 years in a systems engineering role (Aerospace preferred).
• Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab required.
• Proficiency with Matlab and office productivity tools.
• Interest in Architecture using Model Based Engineering tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide weekly status on system development with requirements burn down.
• Allocate requirements to subsystems and coordinate engineering efforts.
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
• Review requirements and specifications.
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition.
• Define system build-in-test for fault detection and recovery.
• Define ground system warnings and notifications.
• Contribute to model development and simulation analysis.
• Prototype autonomous systems and validate designs with experiments.
• Perform design and analysis tasks using AeroVironment tools.
• Write system requirements and test plans; assist validation testing.
• Document work and transition capabilities to production.
• Tackle problems of diverse scope with analytical approaches.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and mentor others.
