Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. seeks an entry-level Systems Engineer I to collaborate with the Design team on unmanned systems for defense and commercial use. You will work with Controls Engineers and Senior Systems Engineers to allocate requirements and drive simulation models.

The role covers requirements definition, prototyping, validation, and testing, with opportunities to learn professional concepts and build internal relationships while tackling defined projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, CS/Engineering, Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering is required or equivalent.
• 0 to 2 years of related experience
• Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab required
• Basic Matlab skills and familiarity with office software and computer based productivity tools
• The ideal candidate will be interested in creating Architectures using Model Based Engineering tools

Responsibilities

• Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down.
• Allocate requirements to subsystems & engineering coordination.
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition.
• Definition of system Build in Test for Fault Detection, Isolation, Recovery.
• Definition of ground system warnings, cautions, notifications.
• Assist in requirements and specification reviews.
• Prototype autonomous systems and validate designs through a series of purpose designed experiments.
• Provide input for model development and simulation analysis.
• Support design and analysis tasks using AeroVironment and industry developed tools.
• Write system requirements, system test plans, and assist in validation testing.
• Learn to use professional concepts and build stable working relationships internally.
• Work on problems of limited scope and apply company procedures to resolve routine issues.
• Receives detailed instructions on all work and follows standard practices in analyzing data
• Other duties as assigned
