Job summary

AV is seeking an entry-level Systems Engineer I to contribute to the development of unmanned systems for defense and commercial applications. You will interact with design teams, controls engineers, and senior systems engineers to allocate requirements and develop architectures for simulation models.

You will work across the full development lifecycle—from requirements definition through prototyping, validation, and verification testing—while applying model-based engineering and data analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 0 to 2 years of related experience
• Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab required
• Basic Matlab skills and familiarity with office software and computer-based productivity tools
• Ideal candidate will be interested in Architecture using Model Based Engineering tools

Responsibilities

• Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down
• Allocate requirements to subsystems and coordinate engineering
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition
• Define system build in test for fault detection, isolation, recovery
• Define ground system warnings, cautions, notifications
• Assist in requirements and specification reviews
• Prototype autonomous systems and validate designs through experiments
• Provide input for model development and simulation analysis
• Support design and analysis tasks using AeroVironment and industry tools
• Write system requirements, system test plans, and assist in validation testing
• Learn to use professional concepts and build stable working relationships internally
• Work on problems of limited scope and follow standard practices
• Receive detailed instructions and follow company procedures
• Other duties as assigned
