Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Systems Engineer II to collaborate with our design teams on a variety of unmanned systems for defense and commercial use. You will work with controls engineers to allocate requirements and develop architectures for simulation models across multiple development stages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• 2-5 years of experience in a systems engineering role (Aerospace systems engineering preferred).
• Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab required.
• Familiarity with office software and computer-based productivity tools.
• Ideal candidate will be interested in Architectures using Model Based Engineering tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide weekly status updates on system development progress with requirements burn down.
• Allocate requirements to subsystems and coordinate engineering tasks.
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
• Develop instrumented Flight Test vectors and data acquisition.
• Define system build in test for fault detection, isolation, recovery.
• Define ground system warnings, cautions, notifications.
• Assist in requirements and specification reviews.
• Prototype autonomous systems and validate designs through experiments.
• Support design and analysis tasks using AeroVironment tools.
• Provide input for model development and simulation analysis.
• Write system requirements and system test plans, assist in validation testing.
• Perform engineering support activities on R&D projects.
• Document work and help transition capabilities to production.
