Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking an entry-level Systems Engineer I to collaborate with design, controls, and senior engineers in developing unmanned systems for defense and commercial applications. You will participate in requirements definition, concept design, prototyping, and validation, contributing across multiple development stages in small, focused teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• 0 to 2 years of related experience
• Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab required
• Basic Matlab skills and familiarity with office software and computer based productivity tools
• Ideal candidate will be interested in creating Architectures using Model Based Engineering tools

Responsibilities

• Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down
• Allocate requirements to subsystems and engineering coordination
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition
• Definition of system build in test for fault detection, isolation, recovery
• Definition of ground system warnings, cautions, notifications
• Assist in requirements and specification reviews
• Prototype autonomous systems and validate designs through experiments
• Provide input for model development and simulation analysis
• Support design and analysis tasks using AeroVironment and industry tools
• Write system requirements, system test plans, and assist in validation testing
• Learn to use professional concepts and build stable working relationships internally
• Work on problems of limited scope and follow standard practices
• Receives detailed instructions on all work and follows standard practices
• Other duties as assigned
