Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Systems Engineer I to collaborate with the design team on unmanned systems for defense and commercial use. You will work with controls and senior systems engineers across requirements, architecture, and simulation models.

The role involves prototyping autonomous systems, performing validation testing, and learning MBSE concepts while contributing to cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM fields or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of related experience.
• Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab is required.
• Interest in Model-Based Engineering architectures.

Responsibilities

• Provide weekly status updates on system development with requirements burn down.
• Allocate requirements to subsystems and coordinate engineering activities.
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition.
• Define system build-in-test for fault detection, isolation and recovery.
• Define ground system warnings, cautions and notifications.
• Assist in requirements and specification reviews.
• Prototype autonomous systems and validate designs through experiments.
• Support model development and simulation analysis.
• Utilize AeroVironment tools for design and analysis tasks.
• Write system requirements and test plans; assist validation testing.
• Learn to build stable working relationships and collaborate.
