Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a highly skilled systems engineer to administer and secure enterprise Windows and RHEL environments in DoD-focused settings. You will implement baseline configurations, manage VMware vCenter, and support VDI, with emphasis on automation using PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible.

Qualified candidates have 10+ years with C4I, DoD 8140/8570 IAT II, security clearances, and a track record of RMF, STIGs, and Navy cloud readiness.

Qualifications

• DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification or equivalent required.
• US Citizenship with DoD Secret Clearance (SSBI/T5; TS/SCI desired).
• 10+ years of C4I systems experience focusing on systems engineering and cybersecurity support.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience supporting Navy C4I environments and RMF/DI SA processes.
• Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems and GPOs.

Job description

• Engineer, administer, and secure enterprise Windows and RHEL systems
• Maintain and enforce baseline configurations
• Administer and optimize VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments
• Support VDI infrastructure
• Manage endpoint and configuration management
• Manage Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
• Develop and maintain automation using PowerShell, Bash/Linux scripting, and Ansible
• Serve as subject matter expert for ACAS scanning and analysis
• Lead system-level vulnerability remediation efforts to closure
• Implement and manage Trellix/HBSS/ESS endpoint security solutions
• Support RMF activities, including control validation, POA&M development, and continuous monitoring
• Ensure compliance with DISA STIGs, DoD policies, and Navy cybersecurity requirements
• Provide limited support for Brocade switches, including firmware and baselines
• Troubleshoot systems in lab and production environments
• Participate in technical reviews, change management, and engineering boards
• Produce and review implementation plans, test results, technical reports, and other technical documentation
• Coordinate and share knowledge within a multidisciplinary engineering team

Requirements

• US Citizenship
• Possession of a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance with a current SSBI/T5 investigation; TS/SCI desired
• DoD 8140/8570 certifications qualifying as an Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II, e.g. CompTIA Security+
• 10+ years of experience with C4I systems, focused on systems engineering and cybersecurity support
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• Operating System Certificate, e.g. Linux+, Windows Server, CCNA
• Experience supporting Navy C4I environments
• VMware, Microsoft, or Linux enterprise certifications
• Experience supporting classified environments with privileged access
• Experience automating infrastructure provisioning with IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, and PowerShell
• Experience with CI/CD tools and automation platforms
• Familiarity with containerization and cloud security
• Familiarity with Navy cloud and automation platforms
• Git repository management
• Knowledge of FRCB deployment requirements
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
