Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Systems Administrator to support Linux (RHEL) and Windows environments, including virtualization and cloud services. You will maintain patches, perform backups, manage configurations, and ensure cybersecurity compliance.

The role requires strong communication, independent work, and collaboration with IT teams. You'll participate in change control, incident response, and documentation efforts while supporting on‑site infrastructure in a dynamic enterprise setting.

Qualifications

• US citizenship and Public Trust clearance required.
• 2–4 years as a Systems Administrator in Linux (RHEL) and Windows.
• Experience across multi‑platform environments with SOPs/guidance.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and judgment.
• Familiarity with ITSM such as ServiceNow and patch lifecycle.
• Scripting: Bash, Python, PowerShell, or Ansible.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware), cloud services (AWS/Azure).
• Ability to work independently and document procedures.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot issues and assist with change management activities
• Apply patches and perform routine system maintenance
• Participate in backup and restoration activities, including backup health checks and database-related restores
• Provide end-user and system support for infrastructure platforms during core business hours with rotational on-call participation
• Use monitoring and analytics tools to maintain system performance and identify issues
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to meet compliance and security requirements
• Follow change management procedures for hardware and software updates
• Troubleshoot hardware and coordinate repairs with vendors
• Evaluate new server hardware and software needs and support deployment activities
• Apply system hardening guidelines and assist Cyber Security Specialists during incident response
• Maintain inventory records for servers, equipment, and software
• Manage assigned tasks and tickets, ensuring timely completion of incidents, changes, and service requests
• Maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and operational best practices
• Assist with escalated end-user support

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required
• Public Trust (Tier 4) clearance required
• 2-4 years of experience as a Systems Administrator supporting Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and Windows environments
• Experience working in multi-platform environments and following established SOPs and technical guidance
• Strong judgment, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of network protocols, cybersecurity fundamentals, and system performance concepts
• Experience with system lifecycle management, patching, and routine updates
• Familiarity with Bash, Python, PowerShell, or Ansible
• Experience supporting cloud services or virtualized environments, including VMware, Azure, or AWS
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with team members and stakeholders
• Experience creating or updating technical documentation
• Familiarity with ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow
• Working knowledge of Red Hat Linux, Windows, VxRail, VMware vCenter/vSphere, HPE, Azure, AWS, Bash, Python, PowerShell, Ansible, IP addressing, ACLs, DHCP, DNS, SolarWinds Patch Manager, SCCM, RedHat Satellite, vSAN, SAN tools, iLO/iDRAC, Splunk, SolarWinds Orion, Dell PowerProtect Data Manager, Data Domain, Active Directory, Red Hat IDM, LDAP, RSA SecurID, Microsoft KMS, Corestreet HID, OCSP, Teams, SharePoint, Exchange/Exchange Online, ServiceNow, and Azure Active Directory
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to bend, stretch, squat, and kneel to move equipment and set up workstations
• Ability to present acceptable identification for customer badging and site access, such as a REAL ID-compliant driver license, U.S. Passport, or another approved GSA document
