Job summary

Boeing is seeking a senior systems architect in the Sapphire program to lead architecture definition and coordination across multiple IPTs. You will design and verify complex software systems, define performance requirements, and drive system-level reviews with senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, CS, data science, math, physics, or related field.
• 10+ years of architecture design experience in complex systems.
• 5+ years leading engineering teams and SEIT/ALM toolchains.
• Experience with MSOA, PDM/MOM/ERP integrations, and security/compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture effort for Sapphire program with IDT&S Chief Architect.
• Collaborate across Sapphire subsystems and IPTs to plan, design, develop, and verify complex software systems.
• Define system performance requirements from customer and operational needs.
• Plan and run System Requirement Reviews, Preliminary/ Critical Design Reviews.

Job description

• • Lead the architecture effort for the Sapphire program with the IDT&S Chief Architect
• • Collaborate across Sapphire subsystems and Integrated Product Teams to plan, design, develop, and verify complex software application systems
• • Evaluate customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements and coordinate interfaces
• • Perform analyses to optimize the total system of systems and system architecture
• • Identify unassigned scope and ensure proper distribution
• • Identify and resolve cross-functional and cross-IPT technical issues
• • Participate in or lead system and subsystem trades covering technical, cost, and schedule aspects
• • Potentially lead SEIT-level Risk, Issue and Opportunity Boards or Technical Review Boards
• • Integrate the SEIT statement of work and technical specification into IPT workflows
• • Create requirements and model-based systems engineering infrastructures
• • Allocate and derive performance and functional requirements and trace flow-down to lower levels
• • Forecast and track requirements compliance activities
• • Plan and execute Sapphire systems engineering events, including System Requirement Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, and developmental gates
• • Apply Boeing command media to satisfy event entrance and exit criteria
• • Represent Sapphire systems engineering at events led by other IPTs, including Test and Production Readiness Reviews
• • Support additional roles as the program lifecycle evolves
• • Report to the Sapphire SEIT leader

Requirements

• U.S. Person status required for U.S. export control compliance
• U.S. Citizenship required to obtain the U.S. Security Clearance
• Final U.S. Secret Clearance required post-start

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or directly related non-U.S. equivalent qualifications
• 10+ years of experience with architecture definition and design concepts and techniques
• 5+ years of experience with Magic Systems of Systems Architect (MSOSA)
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams
• 5+ years of experience with PDM/MOM/ERP integrations, middleware, ICDs, and digital thread concepts strongly preferred
• 5+ years of experience with SEIT and Application Lifecycle Management toolchains
• 5+ years of experience with analytical, risk management, and process measurement skills
• 5+ years of experience in communication and stakeholder management, including presenting technical results and readiness recommendations to senior leadership
• 5+ years of experience coordinating with IT security and applying security/compliance constraints into architecture definition
• Experience in software complex system design, development or test
• Experience working with customers, program offices, and interdisciplinary teams
• Prior aerospace, defense, or large-scale integrated system program experience is highly desirable
• Familiarity with DoD standards and certification/regulatory processes
• Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Jira, ADO, or similar tools
• Experience with Agile methodologies and practices
• Must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest assessment process
• Must meet Boeing drug-free workplace testing requirements when criteria are met
