Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Leader in Alabama to direct missile design, development, integration, and testing. You will oversee a multi-disciplinary team and ensure engineering-process discipline across all domains, including MBSE, avionics, lab and flight-test activities.

The role requires leading cross-functional IPTs, managing schedules and KPIs, and interfacing with customers and leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 16+ yrs, or Master’s with 14+, or PhD with 12+ yrs relevant experience.
Must be a US Citizen.
Must have an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance within the last 6 years.
Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance and SAP approval.
12+ years leading cross-functional engineering teams on missile/aerospace programs.
Hands-on MBSE, PLM/CAD, configuration management, and DoD standards.
Experience interpreting physics-based modeling and simulation results.
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
Strong business acumen and cross-function collaboration skills.
Preferred: cruise missile design, development, testing, and transition to production.

Responsibilities

Provide overall technical leadership for missile design, development, integration, and test.
Manage technical performance and provide oversight to a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Ensure adherence to sound engineering processes across disciplines.
Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary IPTs across systems, air-vehicle, mission, software, test, manufacturing, supply chain, and mission assurance.
Own end-to-end system design, integration, and verification.
Oversee architecture, requirements, MBSE, hardware/software development, avionics integration, lab and flight-test activities, and data analysis.
Maintain the technical baseline and Integrated Master Schedule.
Track KPIs, technical performance measures, and KPPs.
Ensure compliance with safety, airworthiness, quality, and DoD standards.
Chair and lead major technical reviews (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR).
Serve as primary technical liaison with customers, subcontractors, and senior leadership.
Deliver briefings and status updates.
Identify, assess, and manage technical risks, issues, and opportunities.
Drive technical execution for major program events.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 16+ years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s degree and 14+ years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 12+ years of relevant experience
Must be a US Citizen
Must have an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time
12+ years of experience leading cross-functional engineering teams on missile or aerospace programs
Hands-on expertise in MBSE, PLM/CAD, configuration management, and DoD engineering standards
Experience interpreting physics-based modeling and simulation results
Experience building and leading high-performing teams
Strong business acumen
Ability to work effectively across multiple functions
Preferred: experience in cruise missile design, development, testing, and transition to production
Preferred: strong communication skills and experience interfacing with senior organizational and customer leadership
Preferred: active DoD Top Secret Clearance
Preferred: ability to build rapport and collaborate with external partners, suppliers, and stakeholders
Preferred: experience developing complex requirements and maintaining traceability throughout the lifecycle
Preferred: experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) reporting
Preferred: experience with agile processes and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
