Job summary

The University of Georgia is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to join the Georgia Center team in Athens. You will manage centralized IT services, virtualization, backups, and Windows server infrastructure, providing on-call support and collaboration with PSO-Cont Ed-Tech teams to deliver reliable, secure systems.

Responsibilities include VMware Horizon/ESXi administration, storage, network security, and end-user support across campus facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience
• Experience leading complex IT operations and infrastructure initiatives
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Entra ID, endpoint management, Intune, patch management, and identity services
• Experience managing virtualized and hybrid-cloud environments, including backup, recovery, monitoring, and business continuity planning
• Strong understanding of enterprise networking and cybersecurity principles
• Ability to communicate risks and manage escalations effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to develop technical standards and documentation
• Ability to participate in after-hours support and emergency response for critical systems

Responsibilities

• Administration of VMware vCenter cluster and Horizon View VDI
• Management of high capacity storage and backups (Dell Compellent, Veeam, Crashplan)
• Windows server administration including AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, deployment services
• On-call 24×7×365 emergency response and incident handling
• Network administration including switches, firewalls, and security services
• End user desktop support and image deployment
• Documentation and standards development for critical functions
• Collaborate with team and stakeholders across campus
