Job summary

RTX's System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department seeks a System Safety Engineer to develop MIL-STD-882E compliant safety programs, perform hazard analyses, and ensure compliance with military standards across software, hardware, and test activities.

You will collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines, coordinate with customer safety reps, and support lifecycle safety from startup to disposal, while preparing reports and working within secure environments.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
• Experience with System Safety Engineering and/or Software Safety Engineering
• Experience with complex systems and evaluating them for risk

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and perform associated tasks, analyses, and planning
• Coordinate with customer safety representatives to clarify system requirements and ensure proper allocation to software, hardware, and test personnel
• Prepare internal and customer‑facing reports detailing safety analyses and program results
• Work within Special Access Program environments as required
