Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a System Safety and Reliability Engineer for the Core Avionics group in the Lunar Permanence unit. You will develop system safety artifacts and reliability analyses to support lifecycle development of avionics hardware and collaborate with NASA and partners on the Lunar Transportation system.

The role emphasizes leadership, technical depth in safety analyses, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, reliable spaceflight hardware.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree or equivalent in engineering or related technical field.
• 2+ years of system safety and mission assurance experience (FMECAs, FTAs, FHAs).
• 5+ years in development of electronic hardware.
• Experience with MIL-HDBK-217F, 217Plus, PRISM.
• Applied knowledge of systems engineering (requirements, validation, verification).
• Ability to earn trust and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Develop FHA, FMECA, and reliability predictions for avionics hardware.
• Support FTA, Hazard Sheets, CCA, ASA, and HAZOP development.
• Ensure traceability between subsystem functions, requirements, and safety artifacts.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Systems Engineers to ensure common safety products.
