Job summary

Booz Allen is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to support DoD programs by applying engineering principles to identify hazards and mitigate risk across space systems. You will develop SSPPs and safety analyses, review artifacts, and drive risk reduction with minimal oversight while mentoring early-career staff.

This role emphasizes independent work, collaboration with engineers, managers, and customers, and delivering technical conclusions for safety boards and reviews.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Engineering, System Test and Evaluation or Safety Programs on space or missile defense product development.
• Experience in MIL-STD-882E safety analyses or system safety program implementation.
• Experience in developing and evaluating system safety requirements.
• Experience interacting in a team with engineers, suppliers, PMs and customers.
• Ability to make formal presentations to large groups.
• Secret clearance
• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field

Responsibilities

• Develop hazard analyses, software safety assessments, system safety risk assessment and mitigation.
• Analyze and recommend safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control hazards.
• Prepare and deliver presentations at technical reviews and customer briefings.
• Flow down system safety requirements and verify implementation.
• Assist in requirements development and verification.
• Review models, specs, technical docs, and design changes for system safety impact.
• Support customer and test range requirements.
• Develop test activities to ensure safety requirements are met.
• Prepare technical docs and presentation material for independent safety board meetings.
