Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to contribute to DoD space programs. You will apply advanced system safety methods, produce hazard analyses, and guide mitigations to reduce risk.

You’ll prepare SSPP deliverables, participate in reviews, and mentor junior SSEs in a dynamic team. The role requires 10+ years in engineering/safety programs, STEM degree, and a Secret clearance, with experience in MIL-STD-882E, software safety, and safety documentation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Engineering, System Test and Evaluation, or Safety Programs on Space or Missile Defense projects.
• Experience with MIL-STD-882E safety analyses or system safety program implementation.
• Experience implementing a Software Safety Program per AOP-52.
• Experience in developing and evaluating system safety requirements.
• Experience collaborating with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers.
• Ability to make formal presentations to large groups.
• Secret clearance; STEM degree required.
• Master's degree and INCOSE ASEP/CSEP are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop hazard analyses, software safety assessments, and system safety risk mitigations.
• Analyze safety criteria in design to control or eliminate hazards.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations at reviews and briefings.
• Flow down safety requirements and verify implementations.
• Assist in requirements development and verification.
• Review models, specs, and design changes for safety impact.
• Support customer and test range safety requirements.
• Develop test activities to ensure safety requirements are met.
• Prepare documentation for safety boards and gain approvals.
• Participate in mishap investigations and corrective actions.
