Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton in the United States is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to lead hazard analyses and safety program activities for space and missile defense programs. You will apply engineering principles to identify hazards, develop mitigations, and ensure compliance with DoD requirements.

The role emphasizes independent work, mentoring junior SSEs, and delivering safety artifacts such as SSPP, PHA, SHA/SSHA, O&SHA, SARs, and test evaluations while maintaining security clearances.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in system safety on Space or Missile Defense programs.
• Experience with MIL-STD-882E safety analyses and safety program implementation.
• Experience developing and evaluating system safety requirements.
• Ability to present to large groups and work in a team environment with engineers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Develop hazard analyses, software safety assessments, system safety risk assessment and mitigations.
• Analyze safety criteria in design, equipment and procedures to control hazards.
• Prepare and deliver presentations at technical reviews and customer briefings.
• Flow down system safety requirements and verify implementation.
• Assist in requirements development and verification.
• Review models, specifications, documentation, and design changes for impacts to system safety.
• Support customer and test range requirements.
• Participate in the development of test activities to ensure safety requirements are satisfied.
• Prepare technical documentation for safety board meetings and obtain approvals.
• Participate in mishap investigations and identify corrective actions.
