Job summary

RTX is seeking Senior System Safety Engineers for onsite roles in Tucson, AZ. The team ensures product safety by identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing controls to protect personnel and hardware throughout the lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in safety engineering, strong systems engineering skills, and experience with MIL-STD-882. The role involves cross-disciplinary collaboration and formal safety reviews with government partners.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with System Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent Safety Engineering.
• Experience writing technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Develop MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and perform associated tasks, analyses, and planning.
• Conduct hazard and design analyses to ensure compliance with system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
• Collaborate with customer safety representatives and Safety Review Board authorities to gain safety approval.
• Work across disciplines to identify hazards and implement effective controls with software/hardware teams.
• Prepare internal and customer-facing reports detailing system safety analyses and program status.
