Job summary
Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Lead System Protection Engineer to join our Grid Services team in a hybrid role based near Peachtree Corners, GA. You will lead protection philosophy development, relay settings, and power system studies for high‑voltage projects.
The ideal candidate has 10+ years in system protection, strong communication, and experience with CAPE/ASPEN and P&C drawings. Relocation support is available, with an emphasis on collaboration with clients and design teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 10+ years of system protection engineering experience for transmission/substation projects.
- Experience with relay settings, protection studies, and coordination.
Responsibilities
- Lead development of protection philosophies and settings for transmission lines, transformers, buses, and protection equipment.
- Perform short‑circuit analysis, relay coordination, and time‑current curve development.
- Configure and troubleshoot microprocessor‑based protective relays using vendor software.
- Review P&C one‑lines and wiring diagrams in collaboration with substation design teams.
- Support commissioning, field energization, RFIs, and protection issue resolution.
