Job summary

Corewell Health’s Lakeland Hospital St Joseph seeks a Senior Surgical Technologist to maintain sterile fields, handle intraoperative instruments, and support education and curriculum with the management team.

The role involves assisting in positioning, optimizing instrument sets, and contributing to case costing while ensuring a safe operating room environment. The position is full-time with day shifts.

Qualifications

• 3 years of relevant experience as an Independent Surgical Technologist
• CRT-BLS (AHA) certification within 90 days
• CRT-BLS (ARC) certification within 90 days
• CRT-Surgical Technologist, CST certification upon hire
• TS-C (Tech in Surgery) NCCT certification upon hire

Responsibilities

• Provides sterile instruments and supplies during the surgical procedure.
• Performs surgical sponge, needle and instrument counts.
• Prepares case tables with necessary equipment, sterile supplies, instruments and medications/solutions for each surgical case.
• Assists in positioning patients for surgical procedures and maintains a protective position throughout the case.
• Creates and maintains a sterile and safe environment.
• Engages with surgeons to optimize instrument sets and cost-saving opportunities.
