Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking an experienced Profee Surgical Coder to accurately assign diagnoses, modifiers, and CPT/HCPCS codes for outpatient and inpatient surgical encounters. This role requires adherence to ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 guidelines and collaboration with the Coding Lead and Revenue Cycle teams.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, CPC or CCS-P certification, and at least two years of surgical coding experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years experience in surgical/procedural coding.
• Experience with data entry of codes into a database/software tool.
• Proficient with MS Office applications and coding systems.

Responsibilities

• Assign diagnoses, modifiers, and CPT/HCPCS codes for surgical encounters.
• Query providers when documentation needs clarification.
• Collaborate with Coding Lead/Supervisor/Manager to maintain coding accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state health information laws and coding standards.
