Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA is seeking a Sr. Supply Chain Planner for Launch Vehicle Electronic Systems.

This high-profile, cross-functional role supports production flow, launch manifest, and developmental goals, coordinating with engineering and manufacturing to manage BOMs, lead times and inventory levels. The role emphasizes supplier management, cost control, risk analysis, and strategic sourcing with frequent interaction across teams to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree or bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of related experience, or 6+ years in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, material/production planning, or supply chain management.
• Experience in electronics industry and strong supplier management.
• Ability to read drawings/blueprints and understand manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, improve and execute sourcing strategies with metrics for end-to-end production success.
• Maintain accurate BOM configurations, lead times and inventory to mitigate shortages.
• Lead discussions, make vs buy decisions, and conduct should-cost modeling for PO issuance.
• Perform risk analysis considering demand vs supply and lead times from parts to launch.
• Optimize logistics, manufacturing, quality, ordering/redistribution policies and refurbishment planning.
• Support supplier visits to leverage equipment and expertise for cost, quality and delivery goals.
• Lead commercial and quality initiatives to implement the sourcing vision.
• Be the go-to resource for engineering, supply chain, production and build reliability stakeholders.
• Build cross-functional teams and champion continuous improvement to meet cost, quality and delivery goals.
• Proactively update SpaceX management and engineering on critical supply issues.
• Conduct design for manufacturability reviews with suppliers and engineering.
• Lead value engineering projects to improve part quality and reduce cost.
• Execute supplier bids with preferred suppliers; mitigate sole-source risks.
• Develop and maintain strong internal/external supplier relationships.
• Assess supplier technical capability, capacity and risk in procurement.
• Place POs for MRP and resolve PO discrepancies and invoice issues.
