Shield AI in the aerospace sector is seeking a skilled Supplier Development Engineer to lead supplier quality and performance for machined parts. You will drive process improvements, audits, and NPI readiness focused on cost, lead times, and on-time delivery.

The role requires 7+ years in supply chain or manufacturing engineering, CAD proficiency, Excel, PLM/ERP, and the ability to read drawings with GD&T, including up to 50% travel internationally.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in supply chain, manufacturing or process engineering.
  • Proficient CAD reading: SolidWorks, NX, CATIA.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Experience with PLM or ERP systems.
  • Willing to travel up to 50%, including international.
  • Ability to read drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with machining/welding/forming processes.
  • Led root cause investigations (8D, 5 Whys).

Responsibilities

  • Audit and embed supplier processes to improve cost, lead-times, and quality.
  • On-site audits to resolve supplier quality issues and performance challenges.
  • Assess and improve supplier capabilities aligned with engineering priorities.
  • Provide technical guidance on part specifications, processes, and quality measures.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Support New Product Introduction by ensuring supplier readiness during development.
