Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to strengthen the machined parts supply chain. You will drive process improvements, conduct on-site supplier audits, and align supplier capabilities with engineering and production priorities to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

The role requires 7+ years in supply chain or manufacturing engineering, CAD skills, data analysis, PLM/ERP experience, and up to 50% travel including international.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in supply chain, manufacturing or process engineering.
• Experience with CAD and machining processes.
• Proficient in Excel and data analysis.
• Familiar with PLM/ERP systems.
• Willing to travel up to 50%, including international.
• Able to read drawings and GD&T confidently.
• Experience with supplier management and RCA (8D/5 Whys).
• Knowledge of welding/forming processes.

Responsibilities

• Audit and embed into supplier processes to reduce cost, lead-times, and improve quality.
• Conduct on-site audits to root cause supplier quality issues or performance challenges.
• Assess and improve supplier capabilities aligned with engineering and operational priorities.
• Provide technical guidance on part specifications, manufacturing processes and standards.
• Monitor supplier performance metrics and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement plans.
• Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain to ensure uninterrupted production and delivery of components.
• Support the introduction of new products by ensuring suppliers meet all quality and delivery requirements during development.
