Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer focused on machined parts to improve supplier quality, delivery, and cost. You will lead audits, develop supplier capabilities, and support NPI with engineering teams across a global supply base.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in supply chain or manufacturing engineering, strong CAD and data-analysis skills, and experience with PLM/ERP systems. Travel up to 50% including international is required.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in supply chain, manufacturing/process engineering.
  • Proficient CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA).
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Experience with PLM or ERP systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including international.
  • Ability to read drawings and GD&T confidently.
  • Understanding machining, welding and forming processes.
  • Led root cause investigations (8D, 5 Whys).
  • Experience working with suppliers or production lines.

Responsibilities

  • Audit and embed into core supplier processes to improve cost, lead-times, and quality.
  • Conduct on-site audits to identify supplier quality issues or performance challenges.
  • Assess and improve supplier capabilities aligned with engineering priorities.
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers on part specifications, manufacturing processes and standards, and quality measures.
  • Track and analyze supplier performance metrics, including delivery, quality, and cost; implement corrective actions.
  • Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Support New Product Introduction by ensuring suppliers meet all quality and delivery requirements.
