Job summary

Shield AI in Seattle seeks a Supplier Development Engineer focused on machined parts to improve supplier performance, quality, and on-time delivery. You will guide supplier capabilities, support NPI, and provide engineering input on part specs and manufacturing processes.

The role requires 7+ years in supply chain or manufacturing engineering, CAD proficiency, and frequent travel. This position centers on improving cost, lead-times, and quality across the aerospace supplier base.

Qualifications

• 7 plus years of supply chain, manufacturing engineering, or process engineering experience.
• CAD proficiency in SolidWorks, NX, CATIA or equivalent.
• Excel and data analysis skills for supplier performance insights.
• Experience with PLM or ERP systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%, including international.
• Ability to read drawings and GD&T with confidence.
• Understanding machining, welding and forming processes.
• Led root cause investigations (8D, 5 Whys).
• Experience working with suppliers or production lines.

Responsibilities

• Audit and embed supplier processes to improve cost, lead-times, and quality.
• Conduct on-site audits to root cause supplier quality issues.
• Assess and improve supplier capabilities aligned with engineering priorities.
• Provide technical guidance on part specs, processes and quality measures.
• Track supplier performance metrics and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure production continuity.
• Support NPI by ensuring suppliers meet quality and delivery during development.
