Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a SUE Technician III to join our SUE Services team in New England. This role involves precise subsurface utility designation using electromagnetic and geophysical methods, with field work and collaboration with project managers.

The candidate will operate vacuum excavation and assist in coordinating survey activities, while potentially training junior crew members and traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience with electromagnetic and geophysical designation technologies.
• Experience with vacuum excavation preferred.
• Able to quickly grasp new technologies.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
• Proficient communication and internal collaboration skills.
• Enjoy outdoor work in varied weather conditions.
• Occasional travel out of town and overtime may be required.
• Able to walk long distances daily.
• Able to lift up to 80 lbs and handle heavy equipment.
• Valid driving skills and clean driving record.
• Safety of self and others is priority.
• May require night/weekend work.
• Reading, writing and understanding English for job communications.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team to tackle a wide variety of projects.
• Read and interpret utility records, as-builts and highway design plans.
• Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and Discipline Leads on project needs.
• Operate and drive a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes.
• Use appropriate maintenance of traffic.
• Call “One-Call” tickets.
• Coordinate survey work with SUE.
• Supervise field crew activities.
• Train junior crew members.
• Represent Colliers Engineering & Design in the field and coordinate with utilities and clients.
