Job summary

GFT is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer - Substation to join our Power Group and work from multiple U.S. locations including Phoenix, AZ, or remotely for the right candidate.

You will lead or support utility and power substation projects from 34.5kV to 500kV, develop drawings and calculations, and collaborate with clients to deliver reliable, sustainable energy infrastructure. Preferred candidates hold a PE license, 8+ years in power/utility design, and proficiency with AutoCAD

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer license or on the path to licensure.
• 8+ years in design, engineering and project management within power/utility industry.
• Experience in consulting engineering preferred.
• Proficient with MS Project or similar for scope, schedule and budget management.
• Design experience in high voltage substation and transmission projects.
• Experience delivering major power delivery projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop substation structural steel and foundation drawings on new and existing substations.
• Prepare substation structural steel and foundation calculations.
• Prepare specifications for substation structural materials.
• Collaborate regionally and nationally to pursue power substation projects.
• Develop and nurture client relationships across multiple disciplines.
• Contribute to proposals, bids, reports and presentations.
