Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation System Protection Engineer to join our team. The role focuses on high‑voltage substation design, protection/SCADA, and coordination with multi‑discipline project teams.

The engineer will develop specifications, perform protective studies, and deliver fully documented schematics while mentoring junior staff and supporting field testing and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in high voltage substation design - system protection and communication.
• PE license and familiarity with NERC PRC-001 and PRC-027.
• Proficiency with protection and control design, plus related software tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop protection and control specifications, SCADA and communications specs, I/O mapping, relay settings and event analysis.
• Perform short circuit, arc flash, relay coordination and CT saturation studies.
• Create and QA/QC One-Line, Three-Line, and control schematics; alarm and SCADA diagrams.
• Provide technical support to field personnel and coordinate with design teams and external stakeholders.
• Mentor entry-level professionals and contribute to process improvements.
