Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation System Protection Engineer to join our team in Texas.

You will work on electric substation design projects for high-voltage utility systems and renewable interconnection, applying your engineering expertise to meet project milestones and client needs. You will develop protection and control specifications, SCADA/communications, and relay settings while performing short circuit, arc flash, and coordination studies.

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
Minimum of 8 years related work experience in high voltage substation design - System Protection and Communication.
PE License is required.
Proficient with ASPEN One Liner, ETAP, Power Factory, CYME Dist., or similar programs.
Strong familiarity with NERC System Protection Coordination Requirements (NERC PRC-001 & PRC-027) and NEC/NESC.

Responsibilities

Perform system protection and communication design for HV (4kV-230kV) and EHV substations.
Develop protections and control specifications, SCADA/communications specs, I/O mapping, relay settings.
Conduct short circuit, arc flash, relay coordination, and CT saturation studies.
Provide QA/QC through One-Line and Three-Line diagrams, schematics, and testing documentation.
Offer technical support to field personnel and coordinate with project stakeholders.
