Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation System Protection Engineer to join our team in New York.

The role focuses on protection and control design for high‑voltage substations (4kV–230kV) and related SCADA/communication systems, coordinating with multi-disciplinary project stakeholders to meet milestones. You will develop specifications, perform short circuit and relay coordination studies, produce one‑line and schematic diagrams, and provide field support during

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a recognized accredited program
• Minimum of 8 years related work experience in the field of high voltage substation design – System Protection and Communication
• PE License
• Proficient using ASPEN One Liner, ETAP, Power Factory, CYME Dist., or similar programs
• Strong familiarity with NERC System Protection Coordination Requirements, including NERC PRC-001 and NERC PRC-027
• Strong familiarity with the NEC and National Electrical Safety Code
• Good knowledge of the industry and technology trends specific to substations.

Responsibilities

• Develop Protection and Control Specifications
• Develop SCADA and Communications Specifications
• Develop I/O Mapping and Points Lists
• Create Relay Settings and Event Analysis
• Perform Short Circuit, Arc Flash, Relay Coordination, and CT Saturation studies
• Produce One-Line Diagrams, Three-Line Diagrams and Schematics
• Support Procurement and Construction testing/commissioning
• Coordinate with project teams and field personnel to apply relay settings
