Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Physical Designer to join our team in a hybrid work environment, combining office time with remote work. The role focuses on producing substation drawings and integration with engineers and designers in a project team setting.

Responsibilities include preparing general arrangements, equipment plans, sections, BOMs, grounding and conduit details, and other critical plan drawings. Strong CAD skills and 3D visualization are essential.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 12 years of substation physical design experience.
• An Associate’s Degree in Drafting, or a high school diploma and 2 or more years drafting course work or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Substation General Arrangement drawings.
• Prepare Substation Electrical Equipment Plans.
• Prepare Substation Section Views (Elevations).
• Prepare Substation Detailed Bill of Material.
• Prepare Substation Grounding Plan and Shielding Plan.
• Prepare Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details.
• Prepare Substation Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan.
• Prepare Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section.
