Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Physical Project Designer to join a project team working on high and extra high voltage substation design. You will prepare and review complex drawings, lead field walkdowns at client facilities, and guide others in applying design standards and client specifications.

The role offers a hybrid work arrangement (three days in the office, two remote) and a relocation package depending on location.

Qualifications

• Requires Associates Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Ability to visualize Equipment Details and phase clearances.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (speak, read, write).
• Ability to multi-task across projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review substation drawings: GA, equipment plans, elevations, BOM, grounding plans.
• Lead field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities; interface with clients/contractors.
• Coordinate and resolve vendor deliverable comments; ensure compliance with specs.
• Guide in applying codes and standards; contribute to quality system improvements.
• Mentor designers and drafters in design tools and processes.
• Review production of design deliverables and related calculations.
• Support budget/schedule and allocate tasks to project team.
