Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Substation Physical Project Designer to join a project team focused on high and extra high voltage substation design. The role entails in-office collaboration three days per week as part of a hybrid work model.

Responsibilities include creating general arrangement drawings, equipment plans, grounding and conduit details, and BOMs, while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards. Mentorship and technical guidance to designers are expected.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent technical experience required.
• 15+ years of substation physical design experience preferred.
• Ability to visualize equipment details, phase to ground and phase to phase clearances.
• Ability to multi-task across projects and visualize parts in 3D without CAD aid.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical reviews of project team comments on vendor design deliverables and coordinates incorporation.
• Leads field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities; interfaces with clients and contractors.
• Provides guidance on codes and standards and supports the company quality system.
• Mentors designers and drafters in use of design/drafting tools and client-specific tools.
