Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Substation P&C Engineer for our Richmond, VA office. The selected candidate may work remotely from any mutually acceptable location within the United States.

The role involves high-level technical guidance for due diligence, design, and construction of utility-scale substations and protection/controls systems, with coordination across disciplines and with regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience in substation design for power generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Proficiency in electrical engineering principles, design/build, permitting, and project work.
• Extensive knowledge of substation design and related disciplines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead teams and multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead data collection and analysis for substation equipment, materials, and systems with procurement support.
• Review internal and third-party substation design drawings and vendor submittals.
• Provide P&C design support including single-line and three-line diagrams and control schematics.
• Develop concept and detailed designs with attention to equipment sizing, AC/DC systems, cabling, and safety.
