Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Substation Project Engineer for our Richmond, VA office to provide high-level technical guidance across due diligence, design, development, and construction of utility-scale substations and related power systems. You will lead multi-discipline teams and ensure design integrity through reviews and compliance checks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer License required.
• Master's Degree in Engineering preferred.
• 7–10 years electrical engineering experience in substation design/delivery.
• Experience with design/build, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong communication and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and construction activities for substations and related power systems.
• Review and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for projects.
• Coordinate with owners, disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and design documents.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NERC standards and regulations.
• Provide guidance on data collection, analysis, and procurement packages.
