Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to lead technical and organizational efforts within the Power and Energy practice. You will serve as the technical authority on protection and control systems, lead complex substation projects, mentor staff, and drive business growth while ensuring quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

The role requires leadership of engineers and designers, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and travel to various CDM Smith

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
PE license required or equivalent.
15 years of related experience or equivalent.
Domestic and/or international travel as required.

Responsibilities

Lead design and delivery of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
Act as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA, and communications.
Develop and review protection and control deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings).
Lead power system studies and protection coordination.
Ensure quality and compliance with standards and procedures.
Mentor and develop engineers and designers.
Support business development and client relationship management.
