Job summary
CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. This role blends advanced P&C expertise with team development and client engagement to deliver reliable power infrastructure.
The candidate will lead protection and control projects, mentor staff, manage performance and resource planning, and support business growth while ensuring quality and safety
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional engineering (PE) license.
- 15 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
- Serve as the technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA, automation, and substation communications.
- Develop and review protection and control engineering deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, panel layouts).
- Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery, commissioning, testing, and startup activities.
- Drive technical excellence through reviews and standards development.
