CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to lead a regional technical team within our Power and Energy practice. You will oversee high‑voltage protection projects, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery quality while aligning with client needs and industry standards.

As the technical authority for protection, control, and SCADA integration, you will drive project success, collaborate across disciplines, and support business growth with strong client service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 15 years of related experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically/internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as a technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, automation, and substation communications.
• Develop, review, and approve protection and control engineering deliverables (schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, panel layouts).
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and related analyses.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver project execution, commissioning, testing, and startup activities.
• Drive quality reviews and standards development to elevate engineering excellence.
