Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to lead technical and organizational efforts in our Power and Energy practice. You will guide complex substation projects, mentor staff, and drive client satisfaction while aligning with CDM Smith quality standards.

The role emphasizes leadership in protection/relaying, SCADA integration, and documentation, with travel across major U.S. offices and a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required/strongly preferred.
• 15 years of related experience in electrical power/utility environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high‑voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA integration, and automation.
• Develop and approve protection/controls deliverables (schematics, wiring, relay settings, panel layouts).
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, and equipment selection.
• Oversee team performance, utilization, and resource planning; mentor engineers and designers.
